The competition of building the tallest skyscraper has been going on since many year now. various countries have competed each other and many have succeeded in making the tallest building for some time until some other country didn’t break the record.
like me, many must be wondering why building tallest skyscrapers gathers so much importance. the answer is simple, having the tallest building in a country invites world attention to that country. this attracts more people to the area, tourism increase. increased tourism means increased interest of prospectus business in the area, which in turn brings in revenue to the country. thus years have been passed and the war is still on. for now the label of tallest skyscraper goes to Burj Al Khalifa which is built in UAE.

1. BURJ AL KHALIFA
The sky scraper Burj Ul Khalifa is the tallest man-made structure in the world with the height of 829.8 meters. It is situated in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The construction of this skyscraper was started on September 24, 2004 and completed on 1st October 2009. The Burj Ul Khalifa was officially opened on 4th January 2010. The world’s tallest skyscraper has 30,000 rooms and 9 hotels. It’s parking area measures 7.4 acres. It also has a 30-acre man-made Burj Ul Khalifa lake.

2. SHANGHAI TOWER
Shanghai tower is an under construction skyscraper in Shanghai. The construction of this building was started in November 2008. The Shanghai tower has 121 stories. It’s expected to be open for public by 2015.

3. MAKKAH ROYAL CLOCK TOWER
Makkah Royal Clock Tower, also known as Abraj-Al Bait Towers, is the third tallest building in the world. It also holds the world record of the largest clock. The Makkah tower has a height of 601 meters. This building includes a 20-story shopping mall. The tower also includes an Islamic Museum and a Lunar Observation Center.

4. ONE WORLD TRADE CENTER
One world trade center is situated in the Lower Manhattan; New York.it is the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. 1 World trade center or 1 WTC has a total of 104 stories. It is world’s 4th largest building with the height of 541 meters.

5. TAIPEI
Taipei tower, earlier known as Taipei world trade center is 508 meters tall building consisting of 101 floors. It is a landmark skyscraper situated in Taipei, Taiwan. It is the tallest and the largest green building in the world. The building has 101 floors above ground level while 5 floor underground. The tower is designed to withstand earthquakes. It was the first building in the world to break the half-kilometer mark in height.
6. INTERNATIONAL COMMERCE CENTER
The International Commerce Center is situated in West Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is a 118 story building with a height of 484 meters. The international commerce center stands high as the world’s seventh tallest building by height and world’s third largest building by floors.

7. PETRONAS TOWER
Petronas towers are twin skyscrapers located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. These buildings also mark as the landmark of Kuala Lumpur. These towers were the tallest buildings in the world until Taipei tower was constructed. These structures stand erect with the height of 378.6 meters. Both the towers are connected with a sky bridge. Its construction was started on 1st April, 1994 and the building was officially opened to the public by Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dr. Muhathir Bin Mohammed on 1st August 1999.
8. ZIFENG TOWER
Zifeng Tower, also known as Greenland Square Zifeng Tower is an 89 story skyscraper with the height of 450 meters. The building comprises of retail and office space, restaurants, a hotel and a public observatory. Its construction was started in 2005 and ended in 2010. Zifeng tower was opened for the public on December 18, 2010. It is located in Nanjing, China.

9. PRINCESS TOWER
Princess tower is situated Dubai, U.A.E. it is a residential skyscraper with a height of 414 meters, consisting of 101 floors. Princess tower is the world’s largest residential skyscraper. The building consists of 6 underground floors for parking. Its construction began in 2006.
10. THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING
The Empire state building is situated in Manhattan, New York. It is 103 story skyscrapers with the height of 443 meters. Its construction was started in 1929 and was completed in 1931. The Empire State building is the tallest LEED certified building in the US.
